"We are immensely thankful for the unwavering faith that EIP has shown in ToneTag, at EIP we have found the right support that a global product company needs in its early stage. At ToneTag we strongly believe that the best digital experience can be provided to a user when they can communicate with machines in the same natural language which we use to communicate with fellow humans.
ToneTag's acoustic platform is revolutionizing the digital experience in payments and commerce by enabling real-time payments, central bank digital currencies, and voice commerce with key partners like NPCI, Amazon, Google, Mastercard, and many leading Indian banks.
The team at EIP has been extremely helpful in laying down our global expansion plan. We are also honored to have Mr. Shridhar Chitalaya onboard as our advisor, his experience in building some of the world's biggest financial institutions and his guidance will be instrumental in setting up a solid foundation for our global journey."
The internet giant, which is currently one of the mobile transaction leaders in India with Google Pay, is piloting a soundbox of its own in the country to alert sellers of confirmations for UPI payments — a mobile payment standard developed and now ubiquitous in India for instant payments and transfers between banks, or two mobile users, or a customer and a merchant. With UPI payments, providers typically do not take any cut on UPI transactions, so soundboxes have emerged not just as a convenience for merchants, but as a monetizing tool for payments providers, too. These Soundpods are being built by Amazon-backed ToneTag, TechCrunch has learned.
